WATER
Archive Works from 2015 - 2023
I used water as an environment for my realist figurative work for many years, constantly amazed at the diversity of conditions it provides – light and colour are always fluctuating and differ hugely whether I was using pools, lakes or the open sea. The resistance and the weightlessness of water make it the perfect place to capture the human figure in motion. Below the surface has a different temperature, sound, speed and even gravity has a different pull. The energy required to power through it is converted to light by ripples, wake and bubbles. I love what happens visually as a swimmer cuts through water and it resonates on another level as we journey through life creating our own trail along the way.
